Michelle Mcswain

is a lifestyle photographer based in Los Angeles and New York City.

Michelle specializes in capturing joyful and colorful moments with people. She has created images for brands such as Girl Scouts USA, SPANX, Meta, JBL, Boxed Water and several others. Having spent several years working as a pre-production photo editor for The New York Times TStyle Magazine as well as Yahoo, she honed her own distinctive style in her photography of vibrant color and bright light.

With a zest for fun and connection, she approaches each shoot with these two goals in mind and crafts a set where her subjects feel at ease. Whether it's harnessing the glow of natural sunlight or manipulating artificial light, she strives to capture people in a way that feels warm, inviting, and genuine. Throughout her work is a harmonious blend of warm blues and golden tones, reminiscent of blissful, sun-soaked days. Michelle's photography is built upon her down-to-earth and approachable nature. She loves dogs of all sizes (especially her baby Julep), wine tastings on sunny days, any kind of cake, swimming pools of any shape, beach naps, vegan ramen, warm sunbeams, and super blue skies.

Check out my LA Studio

Nestled in a charming corner on the west side of Los Angeles, Sun's Up Creative is a little haven for creativity and smaller-scale shoots. With windows facing the southwest, the studio basks in beautiful sunbeams and natural light each day, dancing off sparkling disco balls and sun catchers that decorate the space. It's a perfect spot for portraits or tabletop branding shoots and is a magical little space for editing days.
